3 Points of Salvation

Author: teejtc  /  Category: Religious

This is not directly connected with the “Trends” I was talking about (I’ll try to come back to them), but I think one of the problems in the contemporary church is that we focus too much on the “point of conversion” and ignore everything else involved in salvation.

Don’t get me wrong, conversion can be a powerful and moving experience for some people. It is not for everyone though; lack of a powerful conversion story does not make someone’s salvation suspect.

Our theology of conversion is too small, too influenced by a modern concept of pray-and-save evangelism, and in most denominations (my own included), too focused on a single member of the Trinity.

Here I’ve tried to provide a more Trinitarian approach to salvation with a more nuanced understanding of both the human experience and divine providence. I realize it may distinguish between the members of the Trinity a little much for some people, but I do think it is a fuller understanding than I’ve normally seen promoted either within or outside of the church.

Let me know.
