Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi

We’re starting a new men’s Bible Study in my church and last night we worked through the 3rd chapter of Becoming Real. Basically, it’s a chapter about death.

You’re going to die. So am I.

I know, duh! But as we talked about it, I realized that I typically view “living” as the default, not “death.” Interesting, isn’t it? I tend to view the reality of death as being the unexpected aspect of existence and the gift of life as being an entitlement. Yet, if I truly believe in God’s providence, isn’t it really the other way around?! Death is what we’re truly entitled to; life is a daily (minutely) gift we’re given.

Ouch.

I’ve gotta keep that in mind!
