My understanding is that the events inspiring the celebration of Hanukkah date back to a time slightly before the birth of Christ (slightly more than a century). Perhaps you can answer a couple of questions for me; I’ve asked my friends and have found no one able to answer it.
Did Jesus celebrate Hanukkah?
If so, should Christians?
Before you answer, I understand that, historically speaking, it often takes several centuries for a holiday to make its way into public observance after an event. I also understand that Christians do not typically celebrate most Jewish holidays (although, whether we ought may be a different question).
