10 Paradigm shifts…

Religious March 6th, 2006

I’ll admit, right at the beginning, that I don’t know much at all about the Mission American Coalition. That said, their website has an article entitled “Ten Paradigm Shifts Toward Community Transformation” by Eric Swanson (whom I also don’t know anything about.)

They are as follows:
1. We must move “from building walls to building bridges”
2. We must move “from measuring attendance to measuring impact”
3. We must move “from encouraging the saints to attend the service to equipping the saints for works of service”
4. We must move “from ’serve us’ to service - from inward to outward focus”
5. We must move “from duplication of human services and ministries to partnering with existing services and ministries”
6. We must move “from fellowship to functional unity.”
7. We must move “from condemning the city to blessing the city and praying for it”
8. We must move “from being a minister in a congregation to being a minister in a parish”
9. We must move “from anecdote and speculation to valid information”
10. We must move “from teacher to learner”

The author may be a little overly numbers-focused (despite warning about exactly the opposite) but it’s worth a read. If you’re interested you can check it out here

Grace and Peace,
`tim
