Merry Christmas
Well… Today is Christmas.
It’s nothing all that exciting around here. We celebrated “Christmas” with my family over “Thanksgiving” and exchanged gifts with my in-laws via USPS. Church had a song & scripture service last night that included lighting the Christ Candle in the middle of our Advent wreath. (I figured we were OK marking the liturgical beginning of the Christmas season after sunset… although I didn’t do it during the AM service so as not to infringe on the 4th Sunday of Advent.)
In any case, I’ve roasted several pounds of coffee (another 250 g. is roasting as I type) for gifts…and for other people to give as gifts. (The roaster, as you may recall, was actually the Christmas gift I received.) And that’s about it.
To be honest, I hate to see Advent go. Christmas isn’t nearly as enjoyable. The music is so “happy” and the season so kitschy - that compared to Advent with its slow melodies and darkened tones. Oh well, I guess Lent isn’t too far away!
For the few readers out there, however, may I extend my sincerest holiday greetings to you and yours. May the season be a blessed one and the coming year find you maturing on the pilgrimage of holiness.
Grace and Peace,
`tim
