43 things…

Posted by teejtc on June 30th, 2007 filed in Websites

I’m not generally a “goal” person. Actually, I’m more of a “deadline” person. That said, somewhere deep down inside I like goals, and that’s why the website 43things is so interesting. It’s an entire website dedicated to people publishing their goals and seeking help/encouragement/etc. from people who either have the same goals […]

The purr-fect cup

Posted by teejtc on June 19th, 2007 filed in Knitting & Tatting, Coffee

Some of you may know that I’m something of a coffee nut so the fact that I’ve been intrigued by the (in)famous “Kopi Luwak” shouldn’t come as any surprise. However, Luwak isn’t cheap and my dear wife would never give her OK to buying a coffee that’s passed its way through the innerds of […]

Do you read “The Door” ?

Posted by teejtc on June 19th, 2007 filed in Religious

I do.  At least when I can find it at Barnes & Nobel or when I find it in a library some where.  If you don’t know what it is, it’s a Christian satire magazine…  Bitting wit and incredible satire — often revealing some of the church’s biggest foibles.  Well, if you’re like me (too […]

I thought maybe…

Posted by teejtc on June 18th, 2007 filed in Religious

Well, I thought it might happen and indeed it has. Several of the people in my congregation caught that saving about 95 cents on our GS assessments doesn’t break even when it means paying $15-25 for a subscription to the Church Herald. Several also had problems with the idea that money allotted to […]

Assessments & the Church Herald

Posted by teejtc on June 14th, 2007 filed in Synod 2007

The good doctor (in the comments on my post “Synod is Over“) pointed out that I said nothing about the way synod acted regarding the Church Herald.  To make a long story short, they decided to stop assessing for the Church Herald, which means that the RCA will no longer have every-household delivery.
I’ve made further […]

Synod is over…

Posted by teejtc on June 13th, 2007 filed in Synod 2007

I hope you’ve been able to keep up with some of the business at synod through my posts. It has been a real joy! Synod is now over (ended yesterday morning with the installation of John Ornee as president and Carol Bechtel as Vice President). The week was capped off with worship […]

Foul Language Comments

Posted by teejtc on June 13th, 2007 filed in Announcements

I simply wanted to drop a note for those of you who might see the list of “Comments” on the right-hand side of this blog.  My blog has been inundated by spam and, although I delete it before it actually gets posted, the subject lines show up on the list, even before I can get […]

Carol!

Posted by teejtc on June 11th, 2007 filed in Synod 2007

Let me be the first to blog it.  The Rev. Dr. Carol Bechtel has been elected the newest RCA Synodical Vice president.  That means that she will be president in two years.
For those who don’t know here, Carol is a professor at Western Theological Seminar, a Harpist, a Writer, and a down-right-good person.

I couldn’t be […]
