In Hampton
Well, we made it to Hampton! Actually, I got her earlier today than I have the past couple of days — It was a much better ride than it has been. A little shorter (only a couple of miles) but there weren’t the headwinds we’ve been going against for the past couple of days.
It’s been hot, but the 73.+ miles that I rode today were actually… get this… Fun. Yep. Me, having NEVER been accused of being athletic… I actually had fun.
Passed I-35 today too, which means that as far as mileage is considered, we’re actually over half way done. We have several days left, of course, but they’re all shorter days (at least by distance). The final day looks to be REALLY hilly, so I’m not exactly looking forward to that (and they’re talking about rain)
but oh well.
It’s going well. I’m slow (at least compared to some 8000 people or so… I suppose I’m fast compared to another 5,000-8,000 or so). There’s officially 10,000 riders but the estimates I’m hearing are closer to 20,000 with all the unregistered riders who are doing it “off the radar.” Amazing. Every shape, size, bike, age. I grew up hearing about ragbrai, but never expected it to be like this.
Grace and Peace,
`tim
