Welcome to Dyersville…
We made it to Dyersville today (the home of the field of dreams, although I didn’t take the shuttle out to see it). The road was hilly and, when the sun peaked out from the clouds, very hot. Otherwise, it as pretty nice.
Slow and steady… For the third time slow and steady brought me into camp before Matt and Jon
Not to brag… Just kind-a funny (they could easily beat me to camp if we were racing). They’ll plow fast me at 24 miles and hour and then, several hours later I’ll be waiting at the baggage semi for ‘em to show up. he he he.
Everything’s hanging out on lines and tents as people try to dry out their stuff after last night’s rain. Most of my stuff is reasonably dry - I only have one day left to go, so it’s not a ton to worry about. Everthing’s going to need a REALLY GOOD washing when I get home.
Shower update: Today’s shower was FRIGID! It was like taking a shower with fresh, cold well water… To cold to even enjoy. ugh. Oh well. I was clean before we walked downtown and I started sweating again!
It’s been a good time. I’d definately do it again (although, since this is such a “flat” Ragbari, I’d have to put in more training miles if it were any hillier). Tomorrow is the last day and unquestionably the most hilly. I hope the skies are cloudy and the wind is weak.
For the record the Basillica in Dyersville is a beautiful, neo-gothic work of beauty! I wish there weren’t so many people in it, I’d have loved to spend some more time looking around. Incredible! (Although no-one seems to know whether it’s the area cathedral or not.)
Grace and Peace,
`tim
