Tequila
So tell me this isn’t funny….
After frantically finishing up Sophia’s Dutch Costume this morning, we drove into Holland for our annual Tulip Time experience. This year, we went to the Kinderparade. Basically it’s a parade of elementary school children and middle-school bands. It’s never very polished, but always fun.
The best experience of the day? Zeeland Christian Schools’ Middle School Band playing Tequila (including a half-hearted “yell” at the appropriate times).
If you’re not from around SW Michigan you may not catch the intense irony of a parochial school in the Christian Reformed Tradition (heavily influenced by puritanism) marching to such a song… Now you do
What a hoot!
Grace and Peace,
`tim
P.S. Don’t worry, she didn’t pick the tulip!

Not any odder than hearing “Battle Hymn of the Republic” played several times by brass bands in Munich during Oktoberfest. The oddest was hearing it from a band playing in the Chinese Tower in the English Gardens while quaffing a liter in the Biergarten. Grapes of wrath, indeed.
