I want one….
OK, I have no clue how much better it is for the environment than gas… indeed, it’s probably not. But I want one! The version in the article is a beast and I’d like my “gassification unit” attached to a smart car, but either way. Ingenious!

BTW, there’s no way you can come up with a comment on the phrase “gassification unity” that I already haven’t thought of!

Even the thought that it’s a real “stinker” of a term? Semi-seriously, though, the whole concept is very reminiscent of the end of “Back to the Future”. And more seriously, I really want a Smart car as my next vehicle. 90% of the time, I am the only person in my car (which is, at least, a Civic Hybrid), so a two-seater that gets nearly the same mileage as my hybrid for $10K less? Sounds pretty near perfect.

Yea… I knew someone would make a “crack” like that…
You’re right though, I’m pretty sure it’s cooler in theory than practice. The Smart Cars are incredible though. I fell in love with them 9 years ago. JJ and I were in Rome and they were all over; someone around here has one - it’s not me. I don’t suppose they’ll ever become a hit in the midwest.
I like the Nano too (although I wonder if it’ll ever hit the US either….)
At least our Toyota Echo does pretty well in the upper 30s. (I won’t say anything about the mini-van… yes, *shrug* I’m one of those people…. To be fair, though, it does sometimes come in useful.)
By the way… are you going to the retreat this weekend? If so have fun! I’m completely jealous.
