Jott.com
Several weeks ago I ran across the website Jott.com; I’m not exactly sure where I first saw it although I think it was probably one of those little adds on the top of my gmail screen. It’s a beta site, so I was a little concerned. My experience is that sites in beta are often too internet-intensive for me since I’m stuck on dial-up. In any case, I gave it a try.
Jott.com is AWESOME!
Here’s the basic idea: you attach your cell phone number to your account; call a toll-free number anytime you want (there are Canadian numbers now too!); jott.com recognizes your phone number; you leave a message; jott.com transcribes your message and e-mails it to you! (You can also set it to text your phone at a particular time to remind you about an upcoming event!)
It’s amazingly simple, and I’ve started using it A LOT! I don’t have to look for pen and paper to take a note (which I’ll probably loose anyhow), I just call the number and jott.com e-mails me the message.
To be fair, it occasionally biffs the transcription of names or odd words (you can actually spell unusual things, but I don’t worry about it). It’s never been so far off, though, that I couldn’t figure out what I was jotting. Also, the reminders seem to be a little off (one of the ones I set was about 10 minutes late, but that may well be the text message working through my cell phone carrier too… I don’t know).
There are other options too, but I won’t bother with them here. Oh, and IT’S FREE! (And I’m on Alltell so I put their phone number in my “circle” of free numbers that I can call as much as I want.)
Check it out (I’ve given you plenty of options for clicking-through!) It’s a great, and simple resource.
Grace and Peace,
`tim
(PS. Of course, I should note, I don’t get any kick-back for this. I’m not affiliated with Jott.com IN ANY WAY… I’m just impressed with the service.)
