Day 1: We Made it to Harlan

It’s hot and getting hotter, but we’re here.  Turns out Harlan is immensely bigger than I woud have expected.  When we rolled into town, I thought “phew, we made it!” except we ended up having several major hills to go yet!  My tent is set up though and, though the lines at the showers are too long for a quick shower, There was a REALLY cold hose just down the way from where we’re camping — put it this way: I’m cleaner, but it was cold enough that I don’t think I breathed for 30 seconds! :-)

We went almost-exactly 60 miles today, and honestly, the hills went better than I expected.  If it were tomorrow, we’d still have another 40 miles to go.  If Ragbrai were a race Ethan would have won it by a landslide - he was here WAY before any of the rest of us.
