I simply wanted to drop a note for those of you who might see the list of “Comments” on the right-hand side of this blog. My blog has been inundated by spam and, although I delete it before it actually gets posted, the subject lines show up on the list, even before I can get to it (sometimes).
Usually, it’s related to internet-based drug companies, but occasionally it’s for something more “off color.” Please excuse any language that may be inappropriate.
Thanks!

For those of you interested, our team (Team Dunningwut?) was selected for Ragbrai (a week-long bicycle ride across Iowa in July with about 10,000 other people!) (and yes, we had to be selected, they have more applicants than spaces!)
If you’re interested in learning more or keeping up with my “training” you can check it out at:
I refrain from putting a lot about it here.

Have you heard that the FDA is considering “relaxing” the labeling requirements for chocolate? If they do, it would allow candy makers to use any number of hydrog.. fats in their products and still call it “chocolate.” I don’t like the idea. Maybe you don’t either. For more information check out:
To act, submit your comment to the FDA at:

Epilepsy was a little much. My wife hated it and, well, it didn’t turn out the way I hoped. I guess I’m going with something a little more traditional. Perhaps this is more user-friendly.

My new theme is called “epilepsy” — Ok, it’s a little strange. I wanted something different for a while though.
Enjoy.

Well… Today is Christmas.
It’s nothing all that exciting around here. We celebrated “Christmas” with my family over “Thanksgiving” and exchanged gifts with my in-laws via USPS. Church had a song & scripture service last night that included lighting the Christ Candle in the middle of our Advent wreath. (I figured we were OK marking the liturgical beginning of the Christmas season after sunset… although I didn’t do it during the AM service so as not to infringe on the 4th Sunday of Advent.)
In any case, I’ve roasted several pounds of coffee (another 250 g. is roasting as I type) for gifts…and for other people to give as gifts. (The roaster, as you may recall, was actually the Christmas gift I received.) And that’s about it.
To be honest, I hate to see Advent go. Christmas isn’t nearly as enjoyable. The music is so “happy” and the season so kitschy - that compared to Advent with its slow melodies and darkened tones. Oh well, I guess Lent isn’t too far away!
For the few readers out there, however, may I extend my sincerest holiday greetings to you and yours. May the season be a blessed one and the coming year find you maturing on the pilgrimage of holiness.

Dark chocolate ‘guards against blood clots’
TWO tablespoonfuls of dark chocolate a day is good for your health, a new study has found.
The sweet treat has a similar biochemical effect to aspirin and can reduce the likelihood of blood clotting.
Now…you DID want to know that didn’t you!?

According to the BBC today, the death toll stand thus:
Israelis died in the violence so far:
Lebanese died in teh violence so far:
That’s not even noting infrastructure damages which are equally as disproportionate.
All I can say is this… Israel (the modern political state), you’d better hope God doesn’t view you as the chosen people. Why? Look at what happens when God’s chosen people treat others unjustly:
