NBC - You Ought to be Ashamed

Posted by teejtc on August 8th, 2008 filed in misc., Politics

Even as I write this, I may be witnessing China’s triumph over western commercialism.  The opening ceremonies of the Olympics are being broadcast with near-constant interruption by NBC — it’s jarring.  The commercials are not well balanced and they are dramatically NOT beautiful, especially when compared to the opening ceremonies.
The opening ceremonies, on the other […]

Beautiful as Heaven, Deadly as Hell

Posted by teejtc on August 4th, 2008 filed in misc.

A month (or so) ago, a few people from our church decided to do some landscaping around the parsonage. For this, we are incredibly thankful! The parsonage is 50-ish years old, but has never had much landscaping done to it and the work they did in the course of a day practically transformed […]

The Irony of Independence Day

Posted by teejtc on July 4th, 2008 filed in Humor, misc.

I ran across these stats this morning… thought I’d share…
According to the US Census Bureau,

The US imported $217,000,000  worth of fireworks in 2007 ($207,000,000 from China).
In 2007, the US imported $4,700,000 worth of US Flags ($4,300,000 from China).

So the US imports exactly the same things we use to celebrate our “independence”… he he he
Oh, irony […]

Buca di Beppo

Posted by teejtc on June 30th, 2008 filed in Food, misc.

Years ago, we visited some friends in Des Moines, IA and ate at a restaurant called Buca di Beppo (I think the one in Des Moines has since closed). Turns out, it’s a chain. We’ve since found that there are Bucas all over, the most convienient of which is in Lombard, IL just […]

A Wicked 10th Anniversary!

Posted by teejtc on June 27th, 2008 filed in Announcements, misc., Beer & Wine

Today is our 10th wedding anniversary and, although we’re not doing anything particularly exciting (except opening a bottle of Tabor Hill’s Cabernet Franc - Michigan has some incredible Cab Francs and this is one of our favs!), Wednesday evening was the “proper” celebration! We spent the night in Chicago and attended Wicked!

I bought JJ […]

1 thing unexpectedly awful, and 1 creative and wonderful

Posted by teejtc on June 3rd, 2008 filed in Announcements, misc.

First the unexpected and awful. My computer fell into a coma yesterday. I was joyously checking my e-mail, typing up a list, loading finale to print out a song I wrote a few years ago and *boom*… or more precisely ” . . . . . ” the blasted thing just stopped. […]

No ‘Average’ Americans in that House

Posted by teejtc on April 16th, 2008 filed in misc.

Finally, a commentator that gets the point.  There are no “average” Americans in the white house… probably never will be.  Say what they want, they do not live the same lifestyles we live or even exist in the same world.  Great commentary on CNN by Roland Martin.  Check it out here.
Grace and Peace,

Yep, it’s been forever

Posted by teejtc on April 11th, 2008 filed in misc.

I haven’t blogged in a long time. Yes, I’ve been busy, and no, it doesn’t really seem like I’ve gotten a lot done. In any case, I thought I’d post a couple of pics from this afternoon. We had a beautiful day with about an hour of Thunderstorm and hail. It […]
