Because I’m awake, that’s why

Posted by teejtc in Music, Video

Have you ever heard a piece of music that is so beautiful it almost hurts… a piece with dissonance so perfect that it’s achingly profound? Well, if you haven’t, Arvo Pärt’s Magnificat is it. I ran across an wonderful YouTube version of it this evening (although the video is a bit bizarre). Enjoy…

I’ve always wanted to try…

Posted by teejtc in Music, Video

I know I’m a little bit crazy, but I’ve always wanted to try fire breathing. The problem? I don’t like pain, and I’m a bit risk-adverse. You know what they say about curiosity… eventually it gets the best of you. (I’m ignoring what they say about curiosity and that unfortunate cat….)

Anyhow, this evening I read about a type of fire breathing that doesn’t use carcinogenic fuel and doesn’t taste downright awful, so… to make a long story short, I had to give it a try.

It’s still one of my first tries… but….

Fun, huh?!

Oh, and don’t try this at home! :-)

Choose Responsibility

Posted by teejtc in Music, Politics

Have you heard of “Choose Responsibility?” Here’s how their website describes the organization:

CHOOSE RESPONSIBILITY is a nonprofit organization founded to stimulate informed and dispassionate public discussion about the presence of alcohol in American culture and to consider policies that will effectively empower young adults age 18 to 20 to make mature decisions about the place of alcohol in their own lives.

It’s a great organization that seeks to pass on the growing body of research regarding the problems of having a 21-year drinking age. If you haven’t heard of it, please look it up; most people make assumptions (often guided by MADD and other organizations) regarding the efficacy of such a late drinking age that, turns out, aren’t true.

Why am I writing about it now? Because Sunday, February 22nd, there will be a segment about it on 60 minutes. You can find more information about it here.

Only 10 hours left…

Posted by teejtc in Kevetching, Music, misc.

Only 10 hours until this year is officially over.
Yeah!
Yippee!!
(I’d dance for joy, but would probably sprain my ankle.)

Clothes dryer stopped working today.

My 30 gb Zune decided to join the world-wide Zune Crash.

It’s a good thing I’m not going anywhere today, the last thing I need is a car accident….

What do you bet I’m going to burn dinner tonight?

yep… my glass is half empty today.

Oh well… only 10 more hours….

Straight No Chaser

Posted by teejtc in Humor, Music, Video

No, I’m not talking about Christmas cocktails… Straight No Chaser is an a capella group. They have a wonderful version of “Auld Lang Syne” on their Christmas Album that just came out, but what I’ve really fallen in love with is their version of the “12 days of Christmas.” It’s on the CD too, but the video is great so I hunted it down for you. Enjoy!
